Meet Irene, our creative Marketing & Community Coordinator!

WHERE IS YOUR HOMETOWN?

I was born and raised in Hanoi, Vietnam.

WHERE WERE YOU UP TO PRIOR TO JOINING ACCELERATING ASIA?

I recently graduated from university in Boston (in December 2018). Right before joining Accelerating Asia, I was interning at Chope in Singapore as a B2B Product Marketing Intern. I’ve also worked at MFS Investment Management firm in Boston as well as at SAP Innovation Center in Silicon Valley in marketing-related roles.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY DOING AT ACCELERATING ASIA?

As a Marketing & Community Coordinator, I oversee all the marketing and community engagement activities. Some of my day-to-day tasks include managing social media accounts, updating the company website, coordinating promotional activities for the accelerator program, and anything else that helps to build a strong brand presence for Accelerating Asia locally and internationally.

WHY ACCELERATING ASIA?

I’m greatly inspired by the company’s belief that “Founders are one of humanity’s great catalysts for positive change”, and it’s a huge bonus to be working with a very passionate and dedicated team.

WHAT IS A QUOTE THAT YOU LIVE BY?

“Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish” by Steve Jobs.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN?

I really enjoy cooking, but I very rarely follow recipes because I like to experiment with the ingredients and switch up the process… This also means that I very frequently encounter failures (fortunately nothing too major yet!), but that’s the fun of experimentation right?

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE?

I love the Harry Potter series, and I’ve watched it more times than I can remember.

WHAT IS YOUR SECRET SUPERPOWER?

My secret superpower is Laser Focus - when I’m concentrating on something, I am often unaware of everything else that is going on around me. The downside to this superpower is that I can’t multitask (e.g. typing while talking) - I’ve tried to do so and the results have been disastrous!

WHAT IS ON YOUR TRAVEL BUCKET LIST?

I would love to visit Japan someday, as I really like Japanese food and culture. I would also love to travel around Europe to explore its rich history and admire its breath-taking architecture.
