Our Results in Numbers
Now, let’s be honest, we talk a lot about being an award-winning accelerator VC and how we have a track record of supporting startups to raise capital and access investors. But what is that track record? While we can’t give away all of our secrets about how we do it, we can tell you our results in numbers and let you know a few of the ways we help connect investors and startups.
Before we give you a snapshot of the results we’ve achieved for startups in our portfolio, just a reminder applications to join Cohort 5 close on December 22. Apply by the deadline to join our portfolio, receive up to US$250k in investment and access to our award-winning program.
By the numbers
We’ve now worked with over 40 startups from over 10 verticals and 100+ founders from 10+ countries in the flagship program. Here’s a snapshot of our results that we’ve achieved with startups in terms of capital raising.
Institutional Investment
Portfolio companies have a track record of attracting investment from high-profile institutional investors in the region including Wavemaker, Cocoon Capital, HH VC Investments, the Indonesian Women Empowerment Fund (IWEF) jointly managed by Moonshot Ventures and YCAB Ventures, MDI, Endeavour Ventures, D4V, and Anchorless.
US$36M+ Total Raised
Accelerating Asia's portfolio companies have collectively raised US$36M to date, that’s a pretty impressive number given the startups are still in the early stage, with some starting less than a year ago.
70%
That’s the percentage of the total raised has been since joining Accelerating Asia’s network. Yes, you read that right, startups have raised over $23M since joining the Accelerating Asia portfolio and program. In fact, a lot of the capital raised is from connections they met during the program.
100% Outside Capital
Our companies have met with and closed a lot of investors, raising from angels, family offices and institutional investors, that’s 100X the average.
65% Close Rounds
Every one of our cohorts has had startups close rounds, from IZY.ai, a travel tech startup that still closed a round at the height of Covid-19 to eCommerce platform Priyoshop and Numu who close their investment round within 4 weeks of joining the program from our network. In the past 6 months, Accelerating Asia startups have raised over US$10M
+12 Operating Markets
Portfolio startups have a wide market reach across Southeast Asia and South Asia including Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Philippines, Malaysia and India. A number also operate and have an existing customer base in the USA, Europe, and Australia.
What’s the award-winning part?
Well, we have won a few awards, here are our most recent:
Most Innovative VC Firm Singapore 2020, Global Business Outlook
Singapore’s Best Accelerator 2019, ASEAN Rice Bowl Awards
Fast Track Accelerator 2019, Jumpstart Awards
How do we support startups to raise capital?
There are a few ways we work with and support startups to raise capital during and after the flagship 100-day accelerator program. First, it starts with a capital-raising overview with our Co-Founder & General Partner Craig Bristol Dixon – strategies, how-tos and approaching your fundraise.
The team then walks through each capital raising strategy in the Entrepreneur in Residence 1-1s. Our Entrepreneurs in Residence also work with startups on tweaking pitches, messaging, tracking the right metrics for investors and more. Get a taste of our capital raising sessions by signing up to receive access to Craig’s how to approach investors masterclass. Access the session here
The other part of the piece is the VC sessions we have during each cohort. As part of the flagship program for Cohort 3, we had sessions with Sequoia, Cocoon Capital, Monk’s Hill Ventures and Vulcan. This gives Founders direct feedback from hard to access investors from the top VCs across the region to adjust pitches and messaging for future rounds starting straight away. Then, there’s our connections to angel investing networks, family offices and more including ANGIN, Bansea, Angel Hub and Bangladesh Angels Network who we work with to facilitate opportunities for startups and investors.
Outside of the investor network, we also help facilitate warm introductions to people in your industry which as our recent alumni Michael from Energy Lite mentions as a key factor in closing his investment round.
